Purpose and being enough by Belle Sutcha
That status that you hold will not fill the void of you questioning if you are enough, therefore you will only yearn for more accomplishments that do not make you who you truly are.

Purpose and being enough
As the weeks have gone on and wrestling continues to go on I have taken more time to reflect on my purpose. Every time someone asks me “Belle why do you wrestle?” I always have the same response. It gives me a purpose. Although it has been one of the biggest physical and mental challenges that has been put in front of me, I chose to find peace in it.
Having a purpose for something is like a tree, there are a lot of things that branch out when you look more into it. This sport has given me peace within myself. When I first started I wrestled out of anger and resentment towards myself. I wanted people to see me as enough.
That's where I misunderstood not only the sport, but myself. I remember a couple of months ago I came across this video of Helen Maroulis saying “I might not be the strongest or fastest, but I am enough” . I saw it right before the offseason started and I finally recovered from my rib injury. From that point on I looked at wrestling differently. Showing up, finishing a work out, crossing the finish line is being enough. Winning a state championship, a fargo title, or being an all american is an accomplishment. That status that you hold will not fill the void of you questioning if you are enough, therefore you will only yearn for more accomplishments that do not make you who you truly are.
